| Okay so took the wheels off to start the refurb today. Gunna update this bit as i go then make a kinda full guard once they done. So first of all heres a few pics of the wheels before: (Note kerb marks and chips) I then started with some 260 grit wet and dry sandpaper. I started off sanding back through the kerb marks as they werent very deep. I didnt go all the way through as ill be using high build primer so it will fill the small pits that still remain. Before: After: Some more of the chips once sanded back. So, after i was happy that the chips were no longer too deep for the primer to fill i started standing the rest of the wheels. I used 400grit wet and dry because i didnt actually want to sand anything down really as i wanted to just key the whole wheel so primer and paint will have something to grab onto. I have only done 2 of the wheels, once the other two are done ill then move onto primer. Like i said ill be using high build primer as it helps hide some of the smaller imperfections and then i can sand down again and make sure there are no high or low spots. Paint wise i think ill be doing at least 3 colour coats: 1st coat will just be a very light coat mainly just scattered around. 2nd coat will be to cover the whole area making sure no bits are missed 3rd coat should just give a bit of deeper colour and again make sure theres no missed bits. Then ill be moving onto clear coat which im hoping to give around 10 coats to make sure theres plenty on there to give a nice deep shine. After that ill be using rubbing compound to remove the inevitable orange peel which usually happens when using rattle cans. Like i said ill be updating this each stage with plenty of pictures of the progress. | |

| Okay so i got the wheels finished ready for primer. Only bothered taking one pic off my mobile. The silver showing through is where i had to sand through the actual powder coat to remove the scratches. This wheel didnt have any kerb marks (the only kerb mark less wheel) but at least they ready for primer | |

| Wheels done now. Just leaving them overnight for the clear coat to dry properly. Centre caps will take some work like. Need to give them a sand once the primer dries.
Gunna fit them back to the car tomorrow without centre caps. Also going to remove the yellow laminex from the fogs and the wrap of the grill and hopefully clean it tomorrow too. | |

| So the wheels are done. Probably need to spend a little bit more time with the rubbing compound to get the shine a bit deeper and also got a few fucking dog hairs in the paint... the joys of owning a beast of a dog i suppose lol. Anyway heres some pics. Ill take some in daylight tomorrow so you can see them properly. Should be able to finish the centre caps tomorrow and then hopefully get the last valve sorted on one of the wheels and fit them on Sunday. My centre cap stickers might even arrive tomorrow hopefully. | |
