Bought a set of Colour Concept Leathers from a friend at the weekend, they were in good condition apart from the usual drivers seat damage, which was quite bad on this one! Retrim wasn't an option, as it was for my budget Polo TDi project, rather than my Polo.
I'd heard quite a bit about The Furniture Clinic's leather repair kits, so thought i'd give it a go. My mate Gav from Autobright does a lot of leather repair using similar methods, so i'd seen it before and was aware of the process.
Here's some pics of it so far.
Here you can see the tear and cracking on the drivers bolster.
Seat stripped down ready for repair
Contents of the repair kit (you also need a colouring kit)
(Heavy Filler, Sandpaper, Tweezers, Leather Glue, Patch, Scalpel)
Pic of the tear from inside
Patched for strength
Filled in the deeper areas first.
Then a light skim over the cracking
Sanding... lots of sanding
After Colour is mixed and applied :)looking better, but still not as good as i'd like.
So I mixed up more filler and the process starts again! lol... hopefully i'll have it complete tonight.
