| How many of you actually declare all your modifications? I've noticed from quotes that it brings your insurance up by a considerable amount and I just wondered how much risk are you at by running a car with mods that aren't declared. | |

| few years back now i had a induction kit on brand new car and like week later basic wrote it off and insurance werent going to pay out like 10 grand for a week old car cos i never declared my 100 or summit quid induction kit i finally got them to pay out after few letters blagging them saying i did it for better air intake and all this carry on but i learnt my lesson if only summit minor just keep spanner in car haha or if you gone to major extreams strip car down to as near standard as possible before claim haha | |

| I'd ring up first see how much it going to increase by. When I did mine it was only 50 quid on top of my original insurance quote | |

| If you buy a standard car, keep all the bits and if I gets a whack replace them all wink wink lol
For first insurance young drivers (that makes me sound so old lol) telling insurnce puts it up depending who you insure with,
Suspension I would tell them, wheels I would tell them, induction kit is a easy put back to standard and I woundnt tell them about that and everything else is standard for me and staying like it wink Wink | |

| I'm with admiral now, when I had my seat lowered and alloys fitted was an extra 50 quid on top of qoute , which was good, but mite go on how long you bin driving aswell, as an insurerer there good in my eyes. I'm on multi car with mum and brother so that's makes it cheaper too | |

| Having worked for a insurance company for 2 years I would reccomend declaring everything as when it comes to crashes your fucked if you haven't declared it. They will void a claim over anything. Of your stopped by the police they can't check if you have declared mods anyway at the scene. They have to fax a DPA sheet to you'r insurance to check anything other than if your insured. If they do find any other details they have broke the law. | |

| As said before its just like driving without insurance, obviously some things you can get away with it. You even have to declare stickers nowadays! | |

| Basically there is no point I've never declared anything as even putting a headunit in is an insurance void so what's the point they won't pay out over anything because they are robbing b*stards | |

| Tbh my Arosa was standard expect head unit, sub and amp and door speakers, not declared. They didnt even look at the car and i stripped it when i got chance, went to the scrappy with nothing wired up and no speakers in the door So you probably will get away with audio, unless obviously the audio gear is stolen. | |

| If they want to be picky they will be .. I.e. if you left a few quid in the coin tray and some smack rat broke in for it then they would probably say it was your fault for leaving it in the car ha | |

| Adrian Flux insure any mods (visual or altering cars appearance hold NO additional premium) Where engine mods do. I asked about a full induction kit on mine as i like the noise and it would cost me an extra £4 a year with them........ | |
