Reps or Genuine?

Was reading through a full debate on vag cars that really suprised me how badly some of them where moaning about non genuine bbs wheels etc. personally I say if they look nice who cares which company makes them?

What's your thoughts?

my thoughts are if u have the money to spend on real ones then thats great but a cant justify spendin like 2k on alloys to be honest dares,lenso,calibre a would much rather have and save 1500quid lol

plus in alot ov the cases the real ones dont look as gd lol

completely agree mate, would love to be able to afford to waste 1-3k on alloys but for most people that aint realistic. And i know people say the build quality is much better but to be fair with the difference in price you could afford to fuck about 3 or 4 sets of reps to the one set of genuine

Choosing replicas over genuine is only ever going to be a financial decision. Saying that though, i bought my wheels second hand for only a little more than a new set of reps. In the case of my chs, the reps are heavier, made of cheese, out of proportion, and generally just not made as well. I have had rep stuff in the past (bumpers etc) and i have learnt just to save my pennies and buy the proper stuff.

I am interested to know how reps can look better than genuine.., i have heard that before..

ave currently got reps on mine and to be honest ave seen real bbs on boras and they look no better thats why a wouldnt spend stupid money on real ones unless maybe a was driven a car that a bought for thousands in the first place lol but eveybody to there own lol

Weight wise personally I don't think it's a issue unless you have a drift car/race car because a fair pounds ain't Gunna damage your mpg. And for them being flimsy then they only Gunna damage off big potholes and hitting curbs which tbh I avoid like the plague! I think the bit you mentioned about a financial thing is right, everyone would take genuine over reps if they had money the same as everyone would buy a Ferrari over a Kia if they had the money but that's life and the way I see it is if you can still make something look nice without spending money you don't have then do it. But I suppose there's lots of people who only want the best to keep up with the jones' and scene whores rather than for actual build quality differences. Oh and from what I heard bbs ch genuine and fake are pretty much same weight as bbs lied on the spec list with the weight.

I would say originals but never seen any other car with the same wheels on as mine apparently 13" steelies are a rare find would sell for about a grand if anyone is interested?

You're right, you can make something look nice without spending the money on genuine wheels. We bought a set of RS reps for my girlfriends arosa and it looks mint, but if she could afford genuine ones obvously we would have bought them.

The CH reps are totally different, once you have owned a set og genuine ones and sat in front of them cleaning them you can spot the reps a mile off. Their appearance is carelessly imitated and to be honest they are embarassingly bad. The 'motorsport' text almost goes off the edge of the wheel face for one lol.

I imagine the same sort of thing is true with other reps too.

I run reps(lenso bsx) and I can't fault them, I know there not real bla bla haha, but to me they do and still finish my car off nicely, from a distance you wouldn't even know the difference. Plus with potholes deeper than ever these days I couldn't. Imagine my 2k wheels smashing into them , not that I want to destroy my lensos, well basically have on 1 side lmao. But I'd rather spend 5-600 on decent set of rims and use rest of money to life! Haha

lol i got beached on the way to VeeDubs, took me about 10 mins to get it to move just with the roads in... well was gunna say the northeast but all Englands roads are terrible! i just would fancy knowing im rolling on £1000 or £2000 wheels, id be a nervous wreck lol!

oh my days dude I know what you're talking about around Sheffield man. the worst roads I've ever driven on. I dropped a couple of work mates off a couple of times and jesus I was scraping on straight bit of road in the worst areas and I'm starting to think I'm not gunna do it again haha

but reps all the way man!

Hha you know the roads! 110%. they are shit!!, suppose to got a some of money council and redo all roads in Sheffield by 2014, best get started ant they! Haha

my arse they will haha they'll fill a couple of pot holes but the 'fixes' will actually be just as bumpy as the pot holes themselves haha it's all they've seemed to have done in Barnsley. ooh South Yorkshire Council how I HAVEN'T missed you at all.

I don't mind Barnsley compared to Sheffield! Barnsley a lot smoother in some places, ie around asda haha

Asda doesnt count because of its speed bumps lol, scrape everytime on all of them with more than just me in the car!
